The Coach Behind the Work

About Me

I didn't grow up with a plan. Truthfully, there wasn't one to follow.

My family migrated from Jamaica to America with almost nothing, no blueprint, no map, no real understanding of what this country held or what was even possible here. When you come from that, nobody sits you down and tells you what to aim for, because they don't know either. There were no expectations placed on me, not because anyone doubted me, but because nobody in my family had been here long enough to know what to expect. You figure it out, or you don't.

I'm determined to figure it out. Because this is bigger than me. I'm trying to do something no one in my bloodline has ever done. And I carry that with me every single day.

But before any of that, I was fighting a battle most people would never guess by looking at me.

Back in 2006, I was dealing with anorexia. I had a deeply unhealthy relationship with food afraid to eat, convinced that if I did, I'd get fat. I had low self-esteem, a self-image I couldn't stand to look at in the mirror, and no real sense of who I was or what I was worth. I didn't like myself. And I had no idea how to change that.

So I started working out. Not for performance. Not for a competition. Just to change what I saw when I looked in the mirror.

What I didn't expect was what happened next.

The physical changes came, but they brought something with them I hadn't planned for. Confidence. Self-worth. I started looking myself in the eye again. Standing taller. Dressing better. Caring about how I showed up in the world. Nobody told me the gym could do that. I had to live it to understand it.

And once I understood it, I couldn't unsee it.

A few years later, the 2008 financial crash hit and the job market was brutal. I was working at a supermarket a dead-end job I hated  quietly devastated by where my life had ended up. Then one day I saw a post on Twitter from a girl talking about CrossFit. She offered to put anyone through a workout. I reached out. We scheduled a session. She walked me into a Chase building, put me through it, and absolutely kicked my arse.

I was impressed. And curious.

I asked her how she got into personal training. She told me. I went home, saved up what little I had, bought a certification book, and never looked back.

The day I got certified, I quit the supermarket. No safety net. No guaranteed income. No experience. I applied everywhere, and one gym gave me a shot. In my first year, I made less than $10,000. But I stayed  because it was all I had, and somewhere deep down, I knew it was exactly where I was supposed to be.

Fourteen years later, that feeling hasn't left.

I'm 38 now. My knowledge has grown and my methods have sharpened, but the passion is exactly the same. Because I know what fitness can do to a person at their lowest point. I lived it. And every time I watch a client stand a little taller, move a little better, or look in the mirror differently than they did before, I remember exactly why I'm here.

What Separates My Approach

One of the things I'm most proud of  and what genuinely sets my coaching apart is my Functional Range Conditioning certification, known as FRC.

Here's the honest truth about most people's bodies: years of sitting, repetitive movement, old injuries, and daily life slowly rob you of ranges of motion your body was built to have. You feel it as stiffness. Tightness. Aches that won't go away. The feeling that your body just doesn't move the way it used to, or the way it should.

FRC works at the root of that problem. It's not just stretching. It's about teaching your body to actually own its natural range of motion, building real strength and control through positions your joints were designed to move through freely. When your body can do that, everything changes. Less pain. Fewer injuries. The ability to bend, reach, lift, and move through daily life with genuine confidence and ease.

For anyone who trains hard, FRC is the foundation that keeps your body lasting long term, not just performing right now.

This certification is still making its way across the country. In many parts of the South, it's already a non-negotiable standard, and facilities won't allow you to train clients without it. Up here on the East Coast, it hasn't hit yet. I'm bringing it anyway. Because my clients deserve training that's ahead of the curve, not catching up to it.

I'm not just in the business of building stronger bodies. I'm in the business of building stronger people  people who move better, feel better, and show up differently in every area of their life.

I work out of a luxury facility and independent training gyms, and I meet every client where they are whether you're just starting out or you've been training for years and hit a wall.

This has always been bigger than fitness for me. And I'd be honoured to be part of your journey.
